Cheryl reportedly wants to turn her attention solely to her son Bear after being subjected to renewed stalking by convicted killer Daniel Bannister

The singer, 42, who had eight-year-old Bear with the late One Direction star Liam Payne, 32, was left terrified after Bannister, 50, was jailed for breaching a restraining order.

Bannister, who has previously served prison time for targeting Cheryl, appeared at Reading crown court last week, where he admitted the charge and was sentenced to 12 months in prison.

In a victim impact statement read to the court, Cheryl said she is "on edge every time I open my gate". She also told how Bannister had frightened her child, saying her stalker "scared her young child".

A source close to Cheryl has now told the Daily Mirror: "She's of course relieved that he's been jailed, and she just wants to focus on Bear now, but she also knows he started up again after the last time he was jailed too so it's hard to totally move on.

"But she's a fiercely strong woman and Bear is her world, so he's her only focus right now."

The same source added: "Everyone's hoping she can concentrate on what's important to her now, and be able to mark the anniversary of Liam's death properly, without this horrendous thing weighing on her."

Liam, who rose to fame after joining One Direction in 2010 following a second audition for the X Factor, died on 16 October last year after falling from a hotel in Buenos Aires.

He and Cheryl began dating in 2016 and welcomed Bear the following year.

The pair separated in 2018, with Liam writing at the time: "We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together."

Last week week, clips resurfaced on TikTok from Liam's 2019 documentary with Ant Middleton, Straight Talking.

In the programme, Liam spoke candidly about Cheryl and Bear, saying: "We found our own unique situation around things... I just hope she's happy, more than anything.

"She deserves it, she's worked really hard. She's a great Mum. And yeah, she just needs to find happiness in the right places."

He continued: "As much as we're not together, she's one of the most important people, if not the most important person in my life. Even though we're not together together, Cheryl is always there for me, do you know what I mean?"
