Selena Gomez reportedly left her mother "shattered" by choosing her grandfather to walk her down the aisle at her wedding

The singer, 33, got hitched to the music producer, 37, in Santa Barbara on Saturday (27.09.25), and sources say her decision on who to give her away has caused a rift in her family.

According to the Daily Mail, family sources claimed Mandy and Selena's stepfather Brian were upset after learning David would be giving the singer away.

An insider told the outlet: "Selena's mother and her stepfather Brian were shattered she didn't choose her mother to walk her down the aisle. In a shock move she chose her grandfather David to give her away to Benny."

The source added: "David and his wife Debbie broke down in tears of joy when she asked him. Selena made the decision as soon as they started planning the wedding."

Selena exchanged vows with music producer Benny in a star-studded ceremony at a private estate. Guests included Taylor Swift, 35, who is reported to have arrived in Santa Barbara on Friday (26.09.25) afternoon under the cover of umbrellas, carrying a white box.

The celebrations began on Friday evening with a rehearsal dinner at an estate in Hope Ranch.

Selena's Only Murders in the Building co-stars Martin Short, Paul Rudd and Steve Martin were photographed leaving their hotel to attend.

The nuptials formed part of a weekend-long programme, with most guests accommodated at the El Encanto hotel in Montecito.

The Sun reported earlier this month: "All the guests will be picked up and driven to the location without knowing their destination ahead of time. Everyone is so excited despite the mystery, they know it will be an amazing time."

Mandy, who gave birth to Selena at 16 and raised her as a single mother, has long been credited with supporting her daughter's career.

Despite reports of disappointment, Benny acknowledged earlier this year Mandy played an important role in their relationship.

Benny added: "(Selena and I) first had music come out in 2013 or something. Her mom set up a meeting between the two of us. This is right when I became big and (Selena) wasn't a singer yet."

The couple said they remained friends for years before their relationship deepened after Benny attended Selena's 31st birthday party in 2023.

In December 2024, Selena confirmed their engagement on Instagram, captioning a series of photographs of her diamond ring: "Forever begins now."

Despite reports of a family rift, Selena's mother reacted to her daughter's upload of her official wedding portraits the same day with an emotional post.

Mandy reposted the images on her Instagram stories on Sunday with the message:"Sunday kind of love."
