Economists say back to back house price increases could be a signal of recovery in the market

Economists say back to back house price increases could be a signal of recovery in the market

Cotality NZ's latest hedonic Home Value Index shows the national median house price now sits more than 811 thousand dollars after values rose slightly by 0.2 percent in October - they were previously up 0.1 in September.

It comes after five consecutive FALLS from April to August.

Chief Property Economist Kelvin Davidson says upturns do start somewhere.

He says some of the fundamentals needed for growth are turning around to the point where he expects increases in 2026.
