    Summer temperatures are arriving early

    Summer temperatures are arriving early

Auckland's seen its hottest November day on record, reaching 27.1 degrees, as humidity climbed to 67-percent.

In the South, Christchurch Airport recorded back to back days exceeding 30-degrees.

However, Hastings was the hottest spot recorded by MetService, hitting 33-degrees, its highest November temperature in at least 60 years.

MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says it's the result of warm sub-tropical air combined with warm winds.

He says cloud cover's also meant things aren't cooling down, with lingering record breaking overnight temperatures.
