Zooey Deschanel "socialises" and goes on vacation with her ex-husband Jacob Pechenik

The New Girl star, 45, was married to Pechenik between 2015 and 2019 and they are parents to two children - Elsie, 10, and Charlie, eight, together and the actress has now revealed she's still close to her former partner and he's even part of a group chat with her TV star fiance Jonathan Scott.

During an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, she explained: "I don't hate anyone that I was with before. And you know, it's awesome because my kids' dad is a great dad, and I always wanna support him as a parent.

"We have a group chat - Jonathan and Jacob and I - and my kids thrive when they know that we all care for each other.

"We socialize and we've been on vacations together, and you know, we've been through a lot."

Zooey has been engaged to the 47-year-old TV personality since he popped the question at Edinburgh Castle in Scotland in August 2023 but the actress admitted she is struggling to nail a location for their nuptials that meets the high quality of the Property Brothers star's interior designs without breaking the bank.

During the podcast, host Alex Cooper, 31, asked Zooey: "Are you wedding planning?"

Zooey replied: "Yes, but it's really like a lot of pressure because he designs incredible spaces, and I'm like: 'There's no space worthy of such a wedding.'

"It's really hard to find that's not like a gazillion dollars."

Zooey previously admitted the couple aren't in a rush to walk down the aisle because they have been together for such a long time,

She told People magazine: "We've been together for so long, so it's not like we're like: 'We gotta get married.'

"I'd rather find the right place, the right place and situation, so that it's really special and fun."

Jonathan had previously revealed that he and Zooey were having "too much fun" to plan their wedding, telling the same publication: ""We've just been having so much fun travelling with the kids and filming this show and stuff.

"So no, we have not actually made any plans yet, which, it's been two years now since I proposed."

When they do get around to planning the ceremony, Jonathan and Zooey intend to keep matters "intimate".

He said: "Whatever we do, it has to be meaningful to us and we want to gather our friends and family and have a good time. "We want to keep it very, very intimate."
