Revelations New Zealanders faced a 200-percent spike in E-shop scams over the festive season

Digital protection company Gen's latest report states 41 scams were blocked every second in 2025.

Gen Specialist Systems Engineer Dean Williams says scammer activity surged in the final months - with e-shop scams rising by 271-percent thanks to social media.

He says they accounted for 65-percent of threats blocked on social media, showing they're easy to produce and distribute.
