    Hospitals near capacity as record 53,000 new COVID cases put UK 'back in the eye of the storm'

    England's health services chief says the United Kingdom is "back in the eye of the storm" of the coronavirus pandemic, with the UK registering a new daily record of 53,135 COVID-19 cases.
