Showers, some heavy and possibly thundery, easing for a time this afternoon.
Waikato to Taranaki, also the central high country and Bay of Plenty
Scattered showers spreading east from late morning. Some heavy with thunderstorms possible this afternoon.
Gisborne and Hawke's Bay
Becoming fine this morning, but a few showers again this evening.
Whanganui to Wellington and Wairarapa, also Marlborough and Nelson
Scattered showers developing this afternoon.
Buller, Grey, Westland and Fiordland
Rain in Fiordland, spreading elsewhere this morning. Rain clearing from Fiordland and southern Westland this evening.
Canterbury, Otago and Southland
Scattered rain in Southland and southern Otago, spreading slowly northwards to Canterbury by this afternoon. Snow lowering to 500 metres in Southland and Otago late evening.
Chatham Islands
Rain easing to a few showers this evening.
