    Fine spells increasing south of Tongariro National Park this morning.

    Periods of rain, with heavy falls about Kahurangi National Park, Nelson Lakes
    and the Southern Alps. Thunderstorms possible about Kahurangi National Park.

    WINDS
    Severe gale northerlies, easing south of Mt Cook from afternoon.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    About 3400 metres.
