    Whirinaki Forest Park northwards
    A few showers, turning to rain this afternoon, possibly heavy and thundery this afternoon and evening.

    Elsewhere
    Isolated showers about and east of Tongariro National Park, turning to rain from this afternoon with thunderstorms possible.

    WINDS
    Northwesterlies, gale about Tararua Forest Park spreading elsewhere by this evening.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    Above 3000 metres.


    south island



    Mt Aspiring and Fiordland National Parks
    Occasional rain, possibly heavy, clearing late evening. Thunderstorms possible in the morning and afternoon.

    Elsewhere
    Cloud increasing and rain spreading north this afternoon. Thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening.

    WINDS
    Northwesterlies, gale south of Mt Cook and gradually spreading north by this afternoon. Turning lighter southwest in the south from evening.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    3300 metres sloping to 2400 metres in the south, lowering to 2400 metres but 1600 metres in the south Monday evening.
