    Brief forecast for the Mountains up to midnight on Monday 30 March

    north island

    Raukumara to Kaweka Forest Park
    Isolated showers turning to rain this evening, some heavy falls with possible
    thunderstorms tomorrow.

    Tongariro National Park and Egmont National Park
    Scattered showers, some heavy and possibly thundery tomorrow.

    Ruahine and Tararua Forest Park
    Scattered showers during the afternoons and evenings, some heavy and possibly
    thundery tomorrow.

    Strong southerlies, easing this afternoon and turning northeast this evening.

    About 2500 metres.

    south island

    Kaikoura Ranges
    Periods of rain, with heavy falls this evening, easing tomorrow evening.

    Nelson Lakes National Park
    Rain developing this evening, turning to showers tomorrow afternoon, possibly
    thundery, then easing evening.

    Remaining South Island mountain areas

    Cloudy periods. Isolated showers about the Kahurangi National Park. Tomorrow
    Afternoon and evening showers, some heavy and possibly thundery north of Mt
    Aspiring National Park.

    Easterlies, strong at times north of Arthurs Pass until this evening.

    2200 metres sloping to 2800 metres in the south.
