Brief forecast for the Mountains up to midnight on Thursday 12 December
Raukumara to Ruahine Forest Park
Rain in the far northeast, spreading south to Whirinaki Forest Park this evening
and to Ruahine Forest Park tomorrow morning. Rain easing from tomorrow afternoon.
Tararua Forest Park
Fine today. Patchy rain developing tomorrow morning.
Tongariro and Egmont National Parks
Fine today. Scattered showers developing about Tongariro National Park tomorrow
morning and elsewhere in the afternoon, then clearing everywhere at night.
Southeasterlies, strong in exposed places about the Raukumara and Te Urewera
Forest Parks, easing this evening and dying out tomorrow.
Above 3000 metres.
Fiordland National Park
Occasional rain, mainly about the western slopes.
Remaining mountain parks
Mainly fine. Isolated showers during the afternoons and evenings.
Mainly light. Strong northwesterlies about Fiordland National Park, turning
3000 metres, sloping to about 2400 metres in Fiordland. Gradually rising to 2800
metres in the south and 3400 metres by tomorrow morning.
