Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes National Parks, and the Southern Alps Cloudy with occasional rain about western areas. Mainly fine with high cloud in the east. Mount Aspiring and Fiordland Periods of rain with heavy falls. Snow lowering to 1800 metres. WINDS Gale northwesterlies about and south of Mount Cook, strong westerlies further north. FREEZING LEVEL About 2500 metres, sloping to 2000 metres in the south. Becoming 2000 metres everywhere this evening.
