    Brief forecast for the Mountains up to midnight on Wednesday 19 June

    Egmont and Tongariro National Parks
    Partly cloudy.

    Remaining North Island mountain areas
    Mostly cloudy with showers, mainly in the east.

    WINDS
    East to southeast winds, strong at times.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    2300 metres but 1800 metres in the south, lowering to 1500 metres in the south this evening, and in the east from tomorrow afternoon.

    Kahurangi, Nelson Lakes, and Paparoa National Parks
    Partly cloudy today, with the odd shower about Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes National Parks. Mainly fine tomorrow.

    Kaikoura ranges and the Southern Alps
    Mostly cloudy with occasional rain in the east, and snow to about 1000 metres today, but mainly fine west of the main divide.

    Mount Aspiring and Fiordland
    Cloudy periods.

    WINDS
    East or southeast winds, gale in exposed places.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    2000 metres in the west sloping to 1200 metres in the east.
