Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, and the Tararua District, also the central high country
Fine, apart from areas of morning cloud about the central high country.
Taranaki to Wellington, also Wairarapa (excluding the Tararua District), Marlborough and Nelson
Mainly fine, with increasing high cloud during the day. Isolated afternoon or evening showers possible about Kapiti, Wellington, and Marlborough.
Buller, Grey and Westland
Occasional showers, turning to rain over southern Westland this morning. Rain clearing there in the evening.
Canterbury, Otago and Southland
Cloudy periods. Showers spreading north late this morning, clearing Southland during the afternoon and elsewhere in the evening.
Fiordland
Periods of rain, easing to isolated showers this morning.
