There are Warnings and Watches for strong wind and heavy rain for the eastern and southern North Island.
Northland to Waitomo, also Coromandel and Bay of Plenty
Fine spells and isolated showers, some possibly heavy south of Auckland this afternoon and evening.
Gisborne and Hawke's Bay
Periods of rain with heavy falls, easing north of Poverty Bay this morning. Strong southwesterlies, rising to severe gale in exposed places from the afternoon and evening.
Taranaki, Taumarunui and Taupo to Wellington, also Wairarapa and Marlborough
Isolated showers turning to rain this evening, heavy at times with severe gale southwesterlies in exposed places.
Nelson, Buller to Fiordland
Partly cloudy, with any remaining showers clearing to fine this morning.
Canterbury, Otago and Southland
Scattered showers about inland Canterbury easing this morning. Elsewhere, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Rain developing in Canterbury this evening.
Chatham Islands
Cloudy periods. Rain developing this evening, with easterlies rising to gale.
