The Prime Minister is being warned soaring power prices are leaving Kiwis to make difficult decisions this winter

The Prime Minister is being warned soaring power prices are leaving Kiwis to make difficult decisions this winter

    13 July 2025
An open letter is calling on Christopher Luxon to fix what's been labelled a broken energy market.

It's signed by groups including Auckland Business Chamber, Consumer, Employers and Manufacturers Association, 2degrees and the Major Electricity Users' Group.

Consumer NZ CEO Jon Duffy says a growing portion of the population are having to choose whether to heat their homes this winter.

He says sometimes those choices are so tough, it's between putting food on the table and paying the power bill.
