The tournament runs for the next two weeks - with stars like Venus Williams taking the court at Parnell's Manuka Doctor Arena.
Hospitality New Zealand's hoping it will bring in international and domestic visitors.
Advocacy Head Sam MacKinnon says it's a great way to kick off 2026.
He says they'd like a strong events calendar for the whole year, so people always have a reason to be in the city.
