It's more than double the previous highest-paid New Zealand company chief executive record, which was 7.3 million.
Gentrack makes software for running airports and utilities, and does most of its business offshore.
It has a current market capitalisation of about 940 million, which puts it alongside the likes of Sky City Entertainment Group.
The bulk of Gary Miles' payment comes from the vesting of 1.3 million performance share rights.
