Driving instructors are calling for more robust training requirements for novice drivers

Driving instructors are calling for more robust training requirements for novice drivers

    14 April 2025
The Government wants to scrap the practical test required for a full driver licence in a process overhaul.

Restricted drivers under 25 would need to keep a clean record for 18 months - or a year if they've completed an advanced driving course.

Institute of Driver Educators President Mark Revill-Johnson also wants supervised practice requirements.

He says drivers would be more competent if they were taught in different conditions.
