    Unionised staff are demanding bigger salaries and allowances.

    Air New Zealand says it would impact 15 thousand passengers - but it's hoping it might be averted by crucial talks with unions this week.

    Herald columnist Bruce Cotterill says the airline has other issues - as customers complain of hefty delays and sky-high prices.

    He says the level of performance expected by travellers is not there - which is frustrating for customers and the airline.
