An array of 'Star Wars' memorabilia has been sold at auction for £156,000

A wide variety of 'Star Wars'-themed items - including carded, loose and boxed figures, as well as creatures, vehicles and ships - went under the hammer on Tuesday (28.01.25) at the Star Wars Spectacular Auction, and the event managed to attract some eye-watering bids from 'Star Wars' fans around the world

    1 February 2025
One of the most sought-after items was an Obi-Wan Kenobi prototype figure, which included a double telescoping lightsaber. The prototype - which came with a signed certificate of authenticity - was ultimately sold to an internet bidder for £24,500 on the Vectis Live platform.

Elsewhere, a walking wind-up R2D2 was sold at auction for £9,000, while a vintage Boba Fett figure sold for £3,900.

The auction - which attracted 'Star Wars' fans from all over the world - also saw a Toys"R"Us Naboo Star fighter and a life-size Pepsi Darth Maul go under the hammer.

The 'Star Wars' franchise was created by George Lucas in the 1970s, and he previously likened making the iconic sci-fi movies to raising a child.

The 80-year-old filmmaker directed the original 'Star Wars' movie in 1977, and he helped to turn the original film into one of the most successful franchises of all time.

George previously told the BBC: "These films are like my children.

"The first one is always the toughest one because you don't know what's going on, you're confused, it's up to this poor little baby to teach you how to be a parent, and sometimes you have to learn as you go. Everything is a drama, you worry about everything that goes on every day and it drives you nuts. Each little phase is confusing for you.

"Then, you have the next one and the next one, and each time it gets easier and easier because you kind of know what to expect."
