Debt-laden graduates should talk to the IRD if they can't repay their student loans

Debt-laden graduates should talk to the IRD if they can't repay their student loans

    15 November 2024
Inland Revenue is sending in the debt collectors to chase down the 2.3 billion dollars in outstanding loans.

About 2.3 billion comes from graduates overseas.

Fincap Senior Policy Adviser Jake Lilley says that in reality, people simply won't be able to cough up, and should discuss their options with the IRD.

He says there's often relief available.
