The National Emergency Management Agency is still warning of strong and unusual currents in our coastal areas despite cancelling its Tsunami advisory

The advisory was launched after a major magnitude 8.8 earthquake struck off the east coast of Russia on Wednesday.
NEMA says tsunami activity around New Zealand coastlines has decreased.
But it's still advising people to be careful in and around the ocean and estuaries with the potential for strong currents.
