    Police are hunting a person - after reports of grievous assault in Auckland's Beach Haven this mornimg

    Officers were called to Hayman Place at 10 - after reports a person was seriously injured by a weapon.

    Police say it wasn't a firearm.

    The alleged offender fled - while the victim took themselves to hospital.

    Police have increased their presence in the area, but believe there's no wider risk to the community.

    A section of Hayman Place has been cordoned off.
