The Rail Minister is confident replacements for Interislander ferries will be found in time

    6 January 2025

Rough weather has caused major disruptions to Cook Strait sailing since the weekend, with multiple cancellations.

Interislander and Bluebridge are advising customers to expect delays for the next few days - until swells ease.

Winston Peters says our ageing ferries are still carrying passengers, but will be replaced.

He says this time replacements will be found for the two ships retiring in 2029.
