Auckland's in the middle of a building boom with more than 17-thousand new homes completed across the city in the past two years

    8 May 2021
Houses are still the most popular new builds -- but townhouses and apartments are gaining popularity.

The Weekend Herald and its data partner Valocity found Hobsonville had the most activity with 1795 completed builds.

Flat Bush in the south east was the suburb with the second most finished.

Valocity's James Wilson says the number of new houses being built has been trending upwards over the decade.

He says the trademark answer to the housing crisis is to increase supply -- so the building boom is good news.
