Indications the job market may be reaching a plateau

    1 July 2024
Stats NZ data for May shows the number of jobs filled in all industries was flat - at 2.4-million.

Health care and social assistance had the biggest industry rises - up five-and-a-half percent annually.

Administrative and support services fell the most, down five percent.

By age, job numbers are down more than 10 percent in 15-to-19-year-olds - and up about six percent in the 35 to 39 bracket.

Bay of Plenty's had the biggest jobs growth, followed by Canterbury and Auckland.
