Grocery prices could go back down to pre-pandemic levels next year

Grocery prices could go back down to pre-pandemic levels next year

    8 July 2024
The Grocery Supplier Cost Index shows a 2.7 percent rise in what suppliers charged supermarkets in June, compared with last year.

Infometrics Chief Forecaster Gareth Kiernan says the hike in prices in the last three years was because of the pandemic.

He says they're expecting the tail-end of inflation that's still causing problems, will be weeded out between now to early next year.
