    Air New Zealand's one step closer to flying its first electric aircraft around the country - a year ahead of schedule

    The national carrier says a battery-electric aircraft will take to the air in a technical demonstrator programme, from mid-2025.

    It will be based in Hamilton and Wellington.

    A battery electric plane will begin operations for commercial cargo services between Wellington and Blenheim, in 2026
