Kiwi wine growers are feeling hopeful for the New Year - despite declining production globally

Kiwi wine growers are feeling hopeful for the New Year - despite declining production globally

    27 December 2024
World wine output's set to hit a 60-year low this year - on the back of changing climates in both the northern and southern hemisphere.

Locally we're also seeing wine consumption fall - dropping over 20-percent in the past 10 years.

New Zealand Winegrowers Association chief executive Phillip Gregan says it's been a tough year - but the industry has a strong reputation it can build on.

He says winegrowers have a lot of optimism and if the good weather continues, we'll be producing some fine wine with the new vintage.
