Uncertainty over how Donald Trump's new tarrifs will impact New Zealand industries

Uncertainty over how Donald Trump's new tarrifs will impact New Zealand industries

    12 February 2025
The US President's imposing 25-percent tariffs for steel and aluminium imports from across the globe - and says there'll be no exceptions.

He's also considering imposing additional tariffs on automobiles, pharmaceuticals and computer chips.

Export New Zealand Executive Director Joshua Tan says the main issue will be the knock-on effect it has on global competition.

He says any steel redirected from the US could flow on to other markets where New Zealand has a presence.
