    Smith and Caughey's says it's been hit with a perfect storm as it announces its closure

    The 145-year-old Auckland business will be closing its doors for the final time before August - with the loss of almost 100 jobs.

    It says new malls have increased competition, while central city construction has reduced foot traffic. .

    Retail NZ Spokesperson Ann-Marie Johnson says shoppers won't go somewhere if it's too difficult.

    She says they're also not spending like they used to.
