The Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister's confident an in-store ban on payment card surcharges won't hugely affect retail prices

    28 July 2025
The Government's announced it will scrap the extra costs for contactless payments by next May.

Minister Scott Simpson says the price on the shelf should be the price at the till.

He says overseas, the small amount surcharges cover - is built into the price of products and services.

Simpson adds in the UK and European Union, there pricing haven't risen.
