    A belief the sale of Fonterra will benefit the sectors adjacent to the farming industry

    The dairy giant is considering selling its consumer products business to French company Lactalis .

    ASB economists estimate the sale would deliver a tax-free capital return of 3.2 billion dollars to around eight thousand shareholding farms.

    Chief Economist Nick Tuffley believes it'll be a 50-50 split between farmers using the returns to pay off debt, and on personal spend.
