Peanuts that may contain high levels of a food toxin have mistakenly been released into supermarkets

Peanuts that may contain high levels of a food toxin have mistakenly been released into supermarkets

    7 May 2024
Anyone who's bought Value Pack Roasted Salted Peanuts since April 11 is urged to check the packaging.

New Zealand Food Safety says the products with best before dates of October 8 and 15, 2024, were recalled over concerns they could contain too many aflatoxins. - produced by mould that grows in hot climates.

Deputy director-general Vincent Arbuckle says an error by manufacturer Prolife means some of these have been released for sale.

He says the risk to health is low but they'll be looking at Prolife's systems to work out what went wrong.
