A group of economists are throwing their weight behind a double-cut to the Official Cash Rate

A group of economists are throwing their weight behind a double-cut to the Official Cash Rate

    26 November 2024
The Reserve Bank lowered the OCR from 5.25 to 4.75 in October.

NZIER's Monetary Policy Shadow Board is recommending a 50 basis point cut in tomorrow's announcement.

Senior economist Ting Huang says it makes sense because inflation's now back to within the one-to-three percent target band.

She says the economy remains pretty subdued, so it's agreed a 50-point cut is appropriate.
