Labour says new changes to tenancy laws are "destructive" for the housing market

Labour says new changes to tenancy laws are "destructive" for the housing market

    13 December 2024
Parliament has passed the changes under urgency overnight.

They include the re-introduction of 90-day no-cause terminations for periodic tenancies, and once again allowing landlords to give notice to end a fixed term tenancy, without a specific reason.

Labour's Housing Spokesperson, Kieran McAnulty, says the bill does nothing to help people into homes.

He says it only makes things easier for landlords and harder for tenants.
