The rise cost of building new homes - has slowed

The rise cost of building new homes - has slowed

    9 April 2025
The latest Cordell Construction Cost Index, shows the cost of building rose 0.3 percent last quarter.

It's well below the average quarterly growth of one percent, and a far cry from peaks topping 10 percent in 2022.

Generation Homes CEO, Craig Hopkins, says costs have reduced as housing priorities have changed.

He says about 33-thousand existing homes are up for sale and some people don't want to wait for the time it takes to build.
