The Prime Minister's revealed Kiwi police have been in Vietnam, investigating sexual assault allegations made against two Vietnamese officials

The Prime Minister's revealed Kiwi police have been in Vietnam, investigating sexual assault allegations made against two Vietnamese officials

    28 February 2025
In December, Police said there was no doubt the men sexually attacked two young female servers at a Wellington restaurant in March last year, but were unable to start extradition proceedings against the individuals.

Chris Luxon told reporters in Ho Chi Minh City last night that New Zealand Police had just returned back home, after speaking to Vietnamese Police.

He says he has real sympathy for the victims back home and the bottom line is very simple: Anyone coming to New Zealand needs to respect our laws.

Luxon is comfortable there are good levels of engagement between New Zealand, and Vietnamese Police.
