Two Northland high schools have been forced to make some students learn from home because of teacher shortages

Two Northland high schools have been forced to make some students learn from home because of teacher shortages

    8 August 2025
Northland College and Kerikeri High School told parents their children will be rostered at home at various times from the end of July and into August.

Kerikeri High School principal Mike Clent says there's a combination of factors including the lack of casual relievers and staff resignations but sickness is the straw that broke the camel's back,

Clent told the Northern Advocate students from years 10 to 13 had each been rostered at home one day each.

Northland College Principal Duane Allen says there's a staffing crisis in the north.
