Cynthia Erivo has thanked herself for her own success

The 37-year-old actress had a career on Broadway before making it in film and after starring in the big screen adaptation of the musical 'Wicked' - which is the unofficial prequel to 'The Wizard of Oz' - alongside Ariana Grande, she has admitted that she wants her younger self to feel "proud" of what she has achieved

    9 January 2025
Asked what she would tell her younger self, she told Access Hollywood: "I would like her to know that she's worked very hard and she should be very proud of herself and I'd like to say thank you to her because I wouldn't get here without her. I'm here because she did the work!"

Cynthia - who was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as Elphaba but lost out to Demi Moore following her star turn in the new horror 'The Substance' -

was then asked about her favorite memories of childhood and recalled growing up in London and taking weekend trips to the beach.

She said: "Favourite memories of childhood, there was one day when my mum my sister, my godmother and I all went to Brighton Beach. There's a beach called Brighton Beach in London, in the UK and we used to go there for the weekend, it was really lovely. Brighton is 20 minutes outside of London, and you'd love it."

Cynthia recently explained that she could relate to her 'Wicked' role because she knows what it feels like to be an outsider.

She told OK!: "I know what it is to not necessarily feel like the world is necessarily made for you or makes space for you - and having to reckon with that, but also find ways of accepting it for yourself, accepting who you are fully and using that as your power."
