    A record first-wicket partnership between openers Martin Guptill and Simon Keene has steered the Auckland Aces to a 53-run win over the Wellington Firebirds in their Super Smash T20 cricket match in the capital

    Guptill and Keene combined a 164-run partnership - topping the previous record of 149 set 15 years ago that Guptill was also involved in.

    Keene - who added two for 24 with the ball - told TVNZ he's fortunate to play alongside the former Black Cap.



    Wellington were bowled out for 162 in their chase.
