Councils are finding it tough to recruit more building inspectors

It comes after a warning from construction officials, that the occupation is understaffed by 10 to 15 percent... which could easily result in another saga like Bella Vista in Tauranga.
Local Government New Zealand Vice President Stuart Crosby says the more time passes, the harder the problem is to solve.
He says one of the problems is the high level of staff poaching between councils.. which drove up salaries across the board.
