Tourism is vital to our recovery

Tourism is vital to our recovery

    24 November 2020
Research conducted by economic consultancy firm Fresh Info suggests it takes 12 overnight trips from a New Zealander to equal the spend of one international visitor.

Tourism New Zealand Chief Executive Stephen England-Hall says New Zealanders were spending a total of about nine billion dollars overseas before the pandemic.

He says even if they spend half of that here -- it will still leave a billion-dollar-a-month hole in our tourism economy.
