The world-first programme aims to simplify making claims after a natural disaster.
The Earthquake Commission and eight private insurers are joining forces to create a single point of contact system.
In the past, claims were assessed by the commission, then a private insurer - creating delays and stress.
But from Wednesday, just one claim needs to be made to sort out any coverage.
Earthquake Commission Minister David Clark says this will remove complexity during a difficult time.
