Lenny Kravitz stopped a concert mid-show so he could take a call from Denzel Washington

The 'American Woman' hitmaker told the audience he had to halt his 'Blue Electric Light' gig over the weekend because he needed to say hi to his "big brother" and they spoke briefly before he hung up the phone.

    18 July 2024
Lenny shared a video from the moment on his Instagram account and wrote: "When your brother calls and you're in the middle of a show."

In the clip, the 60-year-old singer walked up to his microphone clutching his phone and told the crowd: "I'm sorry, my big brother just called me up on the phone to say hi."

Lenny then walked around the stage, holding his phone up towards the audience, who began screaming when the 'Fly Away' hitmaker told them the 69-year-old actor was on the other end of the line.

He said: "Y'all know Denzel Washington."

Lenny then walked over to his camera man to hold up the screen and give fans a closer look at his famous caller, who smiled broadly at them.

The musician then said as he hung up: "Alright brother, I love you, I'll call you later."

When Lenny was added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame in March, the 'Training Day' actor took to the stage to pay tribute to his pal during the induction ceremony.

He said: "He's more than a friend, he's more than a brother, we're twins. We just don't look alike.

"God has blessed him with an unbelievable talent but even more so, an unbelievable heart."

Lenny turned 60 in May and he recently admitted he can "barely believe" he's reached the milestone.

He told the Guardian newspaper: "I can barely believe it myself. But it's beautiful."

The 'Hunger Games' actor also revealed the secrets to his youthful-looking appearance.

He said: "It's a combination of genes, self-care, hard work and discipline."

Despite this, Lenny has "never thought" that he's particularly handsome.

The 'Fly Away' hitmaker shared: "I never thought that and still don't think that."

Asked if that's really how he feels, Lenny replied: "I'm telling you the truth. I have grown to accept myself and be comfortable with myself, but I have never been one to look in a mirror and go: 'Ooh yeah, look at that! You're so beautiful.' And especially not back then, as a teen. Absolutely not."
