Gwyneth Paltrow has been giving care packages to victims of the California wildfires and handing out meals to first responders

The Hollywood actress has revealed her wellness brand Goop has "committed to more than $2M worth of donations" to charities helping those impacted by the disaster and the company has also been putting together boxes of beauty products for those in need and helping to feed emergency workers battling the flames which have killed at least 24 people and destroyed thousands of buildings.

    24 January 2025
In a newsletter sent to Goop subscribers, Gwyneth wrote: "Los Angeles ... I have been searching for words and failing, typing and deleting.

"The loss is incalculable. Twenty-four people. Over twelve thousand structures. Tens of thousands displaced.

"That is what we can count so far, but there is so much we cannot measure ...

"If one thing can define the aftermath of this moment, it is a revelation - to the world - of who Angelenos really are: First responders risking their lives and their health to protect us.

"Local journalists keeping us informed so we can make life-saving choices.

"Neighbors caring for each other, fiercely, in the face of great uncertainty and fear. Small businesses stepping in urgently to give more than what they have.

"The real estate community policing and reporting price gouging as soon as they see it. Artists creating illustrations of lost homes, as a salve for those mourning what they have lost. I could keep going."

Gwyneth went on to explain how she's been trying to help through her Goop business.

She added: "As for Goop, we have committed to more than $2M worth of donations of products to charitable organizations including Baby2Baby, Altadena Girls, and various local charities through centralized distribution resources.

"With the support of our Brentwood store team, we are distributing care packages of beauty and skin care products to goop clients directly affected by the fires.

"Our very own Chef Kim, who represents the best of us, mobilized Goop Kitchen quickly to serve over 800 meals to first responders. More to come as we rebuild.?"

She signed off the letter: "Los Angeles, I love you.?- GP."

Other stars who have been helping out including Taylor Swift, who dec lared she had been left "heartbroken" by the disaster and had donated to a number of good causes including Direct Relief and Habitat for Humanity.

Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio revealed on Instagram that he had "committed $1 million to the Rapid Response Program", Beyonce promised $2 million through her BeyGood Foundation and Paris Hilton - who lost her own home in the fires - started a money-raising campaign with a $100,000 donation.

Other stars who lose their homes to the flames include John Goodman, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Miles Teller, Mel Gibson and Billy Crystal.
