Kiwi consumers are still buying kettles and toasters, but waiting a little bit longer to replace their gym shoes

    5 August 2025
Briscoe Group has announced a two-percent rise in second-quarter sales.

A four-percent rise in homeware sales at Briscoes, has made up for a 1.3 percent decline in sporting goods sales at Rebel Sport.

JMI Wealth Director Andrew Kelleher says it's a sign of where the economy is at right now.

He says weaker discretionary spending is reflecting the tough economic environment and subdued consumer sentiment.
