On Monday a ridge of high pressure moves onto the north of the country, while a northwest flow develops over the South Island. On Tuesday, the ridge of high pressure weakens over northern New Zealand, and a northwest flow covers the remainder of the country. During Wednesday, a large low pressure system in the Tasman Sea moves onto New Zealand. Forecast issued at 1634hrs Saturday 31-May-2025 Valid to 8 pm Saturday for Inshore waters from Matakana Island to Mayor Island to Motiti Island and then east to Torere River mouth. Saturday: Westerly 15 knots, but 20 knots gusting 30 knots west of Motiti Island. Sea moderate in the west. Occasional cloud. Chance of a shower in the west. Northerly swell half a metre dying out. Sunday: Westerly 15 knots, but 20 knots gusting 30 knots west of Motiti Island. Becoming westerly 15 knots every where in the morning, then easing to 10 knots in the evening.
