On Monday a ridge of high pressure moves onto the north of the country, while a northwest flow develops over the South Island. On Tuesday, the ridge of high pressure weakens over northern New Zealand, and a northwest flow covers the remainder of the country. During Wednesday, a large low pressure system in the Tasman Sea moves onto New Zealand. Forecast issued at 1634hrs Saturday 31-May-2025 Valid to 8 pm Saturday for Inshore waters from Great Mercury Island to Mayor Island to Matakana Island. Saturday: Westerly 20 knots gusting 30 knots. Sea moderate. Occasional cloud with the chance of a shower. Northerly swell half a metre dying out. Sunday: Westerly 20 knots, easing to 10 knots in the morning. Rising back to westerly 15 knots for a time in the evening. Moderate sea easing in the morning. Partly cloudy, with the chance of a shower around midday.
