On Monday a ridge of high pressure moves onto the north of the country, while a northwest flow develops over the South Island. On Tuesday, the ridge of high pressure weakens over northern New Zealand, and a northwest flow covers the remainder of the country. During Wednesday, a large low pressure system in the Tasman Sea moves onto New Zealand. Forecast issued at 1634hrs Saturday 31-May-2025 Valid to 8 pm Saturday for Inshore waters from Pukerua Bay to Makara Beach. Saturday: Northwest 20 knots gusting 30 knots. Sea moderate. Fine. Northwest swell 1.5 to 2 metres. Southwest swell half a metre. Sunday: Northwest 20 knots gusting 30 knots, easing to westerly 10 knots late morning. Easing to variable 5 knots for a time in the afternoon, then becoming northwesterly 15 knots in the evening. Moderate sea easing late morning. Fine.
