On Friday morning, the front moves east of the country. A trough moves northwards across central and northern New Zealand on Saturday, followed by southerlies and a period of rain. On Sunday and Monday, a ridge of high pressure builds across the South Island, while southerlies continue over the North Island. Forecast issued at 1128hrs Thursday 03-Jul-2025 Valid to 1 pm Thursday for The Bay of Islands and inshore waters from Cape Brett to the Poor Knights Islands to Bream Head. Gale warning. Thursday: Northerly 30 knots gusting 45 knots, rising to 40 knots gusting 55 knots for a time in the afternoon and early evening. Easing to 15 knots by late evening. Sea becoming very rough for a time in the afternoon and early evening. Poor visibility in rain, with possible squally thunderstorms, clearing late evening.
