    Recreational Marine: Northland
    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 0130hrs Saturday 13-Jul-2024 by MetService

    A high to the southeast extends a ridge over the South Island. A low to the east of the North Island pushes a southeast flow over the North Island. A high to the southeast and low to the east recede eastwards on Sunday, as a northeast flow builds over Aotearoa New Zealand ahead of a slow moving front approaching from the Tasman Sea. The front is expected to cross the country on Tuesday.

    Forecast issued at 2245hrs Friday 12-Jul-2024
    Valid to 1 am Saturday for The Bay of Islands and inshore waters from Cape Brett to the Poor Knights Islands to Bream Head.
    Saturday: Southeast 15 knots, rising to 20 knots this afternoon. Turning easterly 20 knots this evening. Sea becoming moderate this afternoon. Fine at first. Fair visibility in a few showers developing this afternoon. Easterly swell 1 to 1.5 metres.

    Outlook until midnight Tuesday:
    Sunday: Easterly 20 knots, rising to northeast 25 knots in the evening.
    Showers, turning to rain later. Easterly swell 1.5 metres, rising to
    2.5 metres.
    Monday: Northeast 25 knots, easing to 15 knots later. Rain, easing later.
    Easterly swell 3 metres.
    Tuesday: Southwest 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots. Fine. Easterly swell
    2 metres.
