 Recreational Marine: Bay of Islands Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 0530hrs Saturday 17-May-2025 by MetService NIL for BRETT Situation: Today, high pressure over northern New Zealand moves away to the east as northwesterlies strengthen further south. A low and several fronts then move onto the South Island later in the day. Tomorrow, The low moves away to the southeast, but the fronts continue to move north over the country. On Monday, the last of the front over the upper North Island moves away to the north, while a ridge of high pressure spreads across central New Zealand. A trough should move across the South Island late Monday and early Tuesday, then weaken away before reaching the North Island later on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the ridge spreads to cover the country.
