    Recreational Marine: Bay of Islands
    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 0530hrs Saturday 17-May-2025 by MetService

    Situation:
    Today, high pressure over northern New Zealand moves away to the east as northwesterlies strengthen further south. A low and several fronts then move onto the South Island later in the day. Tomorrow, The low moves away to the southeast, but the fronts continue to move north over the country. On Monday, the last of the front over the upper North Island moves away to the north, while a ridge of high pressure spreads across central New Zealand. A trough should move across the South Island late Monday and early Tuesday, then weaken away before reaching the North Island later on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the ridge spreads to cover the country.

    Forecast issued at 0343hrs Saturday 17-May-2025
    Valid to 5 am Saturday for Bay of Islands Recreational Marine Area.
    Saturday: Variable 5 knots. Northerly 10 knots developing this morning, rising to 15 knots this evening. Sea slight. Partly cloudy. Cloud increasing this evening with the odd shower. Easterly swell 1 metre dying out.

    Outlook until midnight Tuesday:
    Sunday: Becoming northwest 20 knots in the morning. Rain developing.
    Northerly swell 1 metre developing.
    Monday: Northwest 15 knots, turning southerly 15 knots early. A few showers.
    Northerly swell 1 metre dying out.
    Tuesday: Southerly 20 knots, easing to southwest 10 knots later. Fine.
    Southeast swell 1 metre developing.
