 Recreational Marine: Hawke Bay Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 2030hrs Saturday 31-May-2025 by MetService NIL for PORTLAND Situation: A strong southwesterly flow affects New Zealand today, with heavy southwest swells developing about exposed coasts, and then eases tomorrow. On Monday a ridge of high pressure moves onto the north of the country, while a northwest flow develops over the South Island. On Tuesday, the ridge of high pressure weakens over northern New Zealand, and a northwest flow covers the remainder of the country. During Wednesday, a large low pressure system in the Tasman Sea moves onto New Zealand. Forecast issued at 1634hrs Saturday 31-May-2025 Valid to 8 pm Saturday for Inshore waters between Cape Kidnappers and Portland Island. Saturday: Westerly 20 knots gusting 30 knots. Sea moderate. Fine. Southerly swell 1 metre rising to 2.5 metres. Easterly swell half a metre or less. Sunday: Westerly 20 knots gusting 30 knots, easing to 15 knots in the morning, then to 10 knots in the evening. Moderate sea easing in the morning. Fine.
